ALL IN ONE DAY: The series (Kabanata VIII)

Day 8

May 27, 2010

What I did today:

  • Handled and queued Technical Support Calls
  • Assisted troubleshooting and fixing map network drives
  • Handled signing of acknowledgments and distribution of receipts
  • Round checked LCD Monitors around the training center
  • Set-upped PC
  • Wrapped Monitors and PC units
  • Tested and Labelled Headphones
  • Assisted in inventory of Packaged PC and Monitor units
  • Checked PC Specifications
  • Installed software
  • Clerical Duties
Busiest day so far again. If you read my checklist, i changed it into bullets because it is not done on a certain order and what you have just read is the revised activities that commenced earlier this day. I changed it into a more specific description just to be concise.

Going back, this day was colder than the previous ones. The rain also fell hard this morning but fortunately, it did stopped when we arrived at the office.
Conclusively, I handled more activities now. I was confident now at my duties. I owe some of these training to my mentors, supervisors, as well as my co-intern. I think what I do lack now is communication skills. But, there is a sure room for that in the future. But for now,  I think I should enhance more my skills and abilities and learn more from my present environment.

"I had so much to tell that I need to divide it into two parts (ready?)"

BAD: At one point, why do I need to mention the worst part first? This is because of the good and better things that happened later on. (So let's see) I had to commute early because of some matters. In fact, this is my first time to go to the office just by myself. I was really frustrated that I made a wrong decision not to stop at one station and that led me to walking for several blocks to reach that other station. I was really perspiring at that moment. When the train had arrived, someone or "they" pushed me harshly just to sit to better seats. I thought afterwards, why do they need to do that, if they can perform it in a well-organized manner.

BETTER: Surprisingly, I arrived earlier than others. (I thought I would be late for the first time!) Today has less calls and more engaging activities, which I prefer most. If you will re-read my checklist, This, so far is the busiest day. I am glad that I handled calls better than the last time, I also get to finish my tasks faster than my average time. I also experienced my first unattended technical support, which I am really proud because of this achievement. I also got my personal computer unit and hopefully in the future, my account. I experienced the LOVE which stands for "Love Of Vending Experience" twice. And even though I departed later than my usual time, I am still overwhelmed and ecstatic about the great things that happened to me this day. Thank You God!

DAY 6

May 24, 2010

What I did today:
          1. Attend to calls for support
          2. Assist in Technical Support
          3. Format PC
          4. Install Operating System and Software/Applications
          5. Set-up and Deploy PC
          6. Clerical Duties

This day started a little bad because of my stomach ache. I cannot concentrate well on my work and since this is the first day of the week, there are a lot of duties and tasks to perform. Fortunately, after having my lunch, I felt better and a bit energized for the coming hours. The heaviest and the meanest task for the day is setting up the UPS (Uninterrupted Power Supply) which was very heavy. This is my first time to assist in deploying a PC so I was really trying to perform well but the UPS was not cooperative at all. I was frustrated a bit but I became happy when we finally finished the day's work.

Note: If you are a bit curious why this post is not uploaded early in this blog is because of my cousin's arrival here in Manila. We ate and had some updating and sharing and this lasted till midnight. So I decided to postpone it and do it today (2010-04-25) for I still have to attend my on the job training.

ALL IN ONE DAY: The series (Kabanata V)

Day 5

May 21, 2010

What I did today:

1.Attend the calls for Technical Support

     2.Assist in Technical Support

     3.Industrial Duties

     4.Clerical Duties

Today was an unpredictable one. The day kicked off just right that I become confident enough to handle and manage calls for tech support. However, I began missing out the necessary details during one call. Crap. I felt that my mind was floating gracefully in thin air or is it just because of the elevator? that I do not know. At the end of a day, I was supposed to be joining one activity after our work that something happened. The get-together activity was cancelled. I didn't know the exact reason but somehow I felt relieved at some point. On the other side, I was glad because I finally received my I.D!
Today I have learned that there are certain circumstances that happen in our life, and we have the option on whether accepting it or regretting it, but in the end, we should be accountable on whatever decision we make. Again, one thing is for sure, If we put our trust in the Lord, surely good things will happen to your life.
I personally thank our Good Lord for this opportunity and to Him all the glory, honor, and praises!

Why would I follow this series?

The "ALL IN ONE DAY: The Series" project is a journal-like posts series which will feature what happens everyday to a person like me. It is also a decaffeinated  version of the "Project 365" but instead of photos, text will tell the story.  It will also showcase a featured photo of the number 1, in short you will be seeing lots and different kinds and presentation of e number "ONE" / 1.

Why would you follow this series? It is up to you. If you are interested in a judicious life like mine, then follow the series, if not, it is OK. It is a free world after all.

In the next few days, you will  be seeing lots of ups and hopefully, more ups in the future.

See you folks! Hope to hear from you soon!

DAY 4

May 20, 2010

What I did today:
1.Attend the calls for Technical Support
     2.Technical Support
     3.Industrial Duties

Well, the theme for today is FOOD, FOOD and more FOOD. I can't think of what to write tonight because the aroma of the food that I have eaten still lingers in my inner dwellings. Today also marks my first technical support ever. I did not just attend to calls, I responded to them. For me, this is an achievement. Also at this day, at it nears the Saturday, the tasks are getting lighter and less sophisticated for people are eager for the short weekend. Overall, I just love what I am doing and even though it is exhausting, I am still FULFILLED.

ALL IN ONE DAY: The series (Kabanata III)

DAY 3

May 19, 2010

What I did today:
     1. Attend to calls for support
     2. Troubleshoot PC
     3. Assist in Technical Support
     4. Repackage and Deliver PC

I was getting used to what I am doing, although I need more training and coaching on the side with the help of my mentors. I love my coffee breaks at the afternoon, where I can take a break and have a chance to sip through some warm and freshly brewed coffee. "delicioso!" I also had good times with my co-intern who smartly shared some tips and tricks and some good laughs on the side. Although today's work is exhausting, I was really happy that I get to work with these things. I'm learning more that what I gained from school indeed. Truly, "Experience is the best Teacher".

There were additional tasks that I need to do and more responsibilities to be handled. I was in my office attire today and I felt I was really working, which is a good thing which means I enjoyed everything that I was doing. However, I was still frustrated with the PC.  I hope I can finish it tomorrow.

Labor Day Escapade

May 1, 2010

Alas! This marks the start of our trip. We woke up early in the morning and prepared our luggage for our incoming trip. An hour later, we’re good to go. We’ve done some final checks to see if we missed something important. Finally, we prayed for good voyage and a safe trip.

There were inconveniences and mishaps on our way to Baguio. First, we endured a bad detour because the bridge in that area is still under construction. Worse, drizzles of rain fall like a warning sign that something will happen later on. After that event, we refueled at Shell and had a break on a store nearby. When my Dad checked the car, he realized that something is wrong. So my dad and one of my uncles rushed to a nearby repair shop which caused an hour and a half delay on our trip. Fortunately, the car was repaired successfully.
The following posts will feature our destination places in Baguio.

Anyway, my Uncle knew one place we could rest and spend the rest of the night in. It’s an “apartelle” and unfortunately, I forgot the name of that place.  For those who are not familiar with that term, it is more of an apartment but is charged per day basis unlike the ordinary apartments, where boarders are expected to pay at the end of the month or a specific date agreed upon the owner.

The rain poured as we explored Baguio and by the way, it is my first time so I am excited about this trip. The weather is somewhat unpredictable for sometimes it will rain, and sometimes will not. First, we had a nice walk around BURNHAM PARK and did some boating (and crap! I do not know how to row a boat, so please teach me!) along with the whole family with some relatives. After that, we rested and sung a bunch of songs with my cousins a.k.a “Asuncion Brotherhood”. After that, we had a change of rooms, instead of dividing the rooms per family, they decided to separate it per age-group, two rooms will be for adults (our parents) and some close adult friends and one room for the rest of the cousins. I was given the responsibility to take charge with the key and the rest of my younger cousins since I am the eldest among them. We were happy though because we will spend the rest of the night together. Fortunately the rain stopped and hearing a “go” signal, I knew we were all set to Baguio.

With a convoy of four cars, a whole bunch of a happy people and a fresh scent of air after the rain, this is what I call vacation. We started our road tour at about 4:00 in the afternoon (road tour because it’s getting late and there are still a lot to explore so they decided to just present us a glimpse of what tourists sought for in Baguio. (I will do a comprehensive story telling later on))

After the road trip, we rested again and had a scrumptious and delicious dinner alongside. During the end of the day, we had some good times with the rest of the ASUNCION CLAN, and some giggles and chat and a lot of memories with the BROTHERHOOD.

I feel so tired that day, so I slept early and tucked in my makeshift pillow. (“makeshift” because we lacked some pillows, so I converted my blanket to a pillow instead)
